biolitec's laser does not affect erectile function by BPH treatment and avoids impotence

Follow-up examination by Prof. Ali Erol from the Duzce University, Turkey shows no negative impact on erectile function of the treatment with biolitec's laser system Evolve™ - Results confirmed in Italy

Jena, Germany (MMD Newswire) June 3, 2010 -- www.biolitec.de - Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH) is troubling approximately 60 percent of all men over 60 years. Impotence and incontinence as well as significant loss of blood can occur during and after the procedure, e.g. with electroresection. The risk of bleeding and bladder perforation exists also if certain older laser systems are used however now a recent French publication by Dr. Frank Bruyere about the Greenlight Laser from AMS showed even the risk of significant erectile dysfunction (impotence).

biolitec's Evolve™ laser system sets a new standard of efficacy and safety. Higher ablation rates are achieved while intra and post-operative bleeding as well as other side effects are reduced to a minimum. The removing of prostrate tissue is completed after 15 to 30 minutes in some cases. The results are good haemostasis and accelerated wound healing. There is no risk to injure the bladder or other sensitive areas, as it exists with other lasers.

The recent analysis of the follow-up treatments (Journal of Urology, Volume 181, 3 months Follow-up) by Prof. Ali Erol from Duzce University, Turkey shows, that there is no reduction of the erectile function of the patients, which were treated ,defined by IIEH (International Index of Erectile Function), with bioltec's Evolve™ laser system. Prof. Ali Erol is a member of the International Prostate Expert Group (IPEG) - an independently formed collaboration of physicians and researchers from ten centers worldwide with extensive experience in BPH laser therapy. It was founded in 2006 and comprises physicians and scientists from renowned medical research centers in Australia, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Turkey as well as the US. The results of Prof. Ali Erol were confirmed in another scientific article (Prostate Cancer and Prostatic Disease 2009, 1-4) by Dr. Leonardi from the Department of Urology, Clinica Basile in Italy.
