Jena, October 14, 2008 – biolitec AG will present its total concept for the treatment of venous insufficiency at the annual convention of the German Society of Phlebology in Bochum. From October 15 to 18, biolitec AG will be exhibiting at stand no. D78.
The system, which combines the ELVeS® PainLess Laser and the RADIAL fiber, was developed to reduce pain, bruising, swelling and post-operative discomfort. The benefit for the physician is a short and easy treatment. In a safe, one-step procedure, a micropuncture kit is used to insert the fiber into the vein. The fiber tip has excellent ultrasound visibility, which means that its progress can be carefully monitored. No extra-long catheters or guide wires are needed. It takes no more than 30 - 45 minutes to carry out the procedure on an outpatient basis. Thanks to radial light emission and fast energy transfer, the treatment requires less energy than was previously the case.
The ELVeS® system was optimized at the start of the year. Now, the ELVeS® RADIAL fiber can be used in conjunction with the ELVeS ® PainLess laser system to open up a whole range of new possibilities in vein treatment technology. The patented RADIAL fiber is the world's first radial emitting laser fiber (360°) used for endovenous treatment of varicosis in the greater and lesser saphenous veins.
To treat the veins affected, the RADIAL fiber emits laser light, which causes the vessel wall to constrict, and seals the veins. The veins are then dissolved and absorbed by the body. Since the ELVeS® RADIAL fiber ensures a faster and more precisely targeted transfer of energy than any other fiber currently on the market, sealing of the vein is now more effective, which eliminates any risk of perforation or carbonization. Post-operative swelling and pain are also eliminated, while ecchymosis is minimized both during and after the procedure. In addition, the procedure leaves no visible puncture marks.
