With LaEvita™ Bodyforming, biolitec AG successfully introduces a new laser treatment for fat removal

Jena, 8 July 2008 – With LaEvita™ Bodyforming, biolitec AG (ISIN DE0005213409) has successfully introduced a new treatment method for controlled and gentle removal of fatty tissue on the European market. The Jena-based company is thus expanding its aesthetic portfolio.
With biolitec AG’s Laser Bodyforming, fatty tissue is systematically treated with laser light. A surgeon guides a laser fibre through a special suction handpiece into the patient’s affected tissue. “The way in which LaEvita Bodyforming™ differs from conventional liposuction is that the fatty tissue is firstly heated in a controlled fashion until liquefaction occurs. In the next stage, the liquefied fat is just sucked out with liposuction,” is how Prof. Dr. Albrecht, Research Manager at biolitec AG, explains the innovative treatment method.
Successful operations in Hungary and Bulgaria demonstrate the effectiveness of LaEvita™ Bodyforming: one patient had 7,000 mL of fatty tissue extracted. Despite the relatively large operation, the man was able to leave the clinic the very next day. Along with the short hospital treatment, biolitec AG’s new laser treatment has many medical and cosmetic advantages over conventional liposuction. The subcutaneous tissue is not irritated during surgery.
The LaEvita™ laser connects the layers of skin together after the lipocytes have been extracted. Under normal circumstances, there is no bleeding, because the laser immediately closes the blood vessels. Moreover, the laser energy stimulates the production of new collagen fibres. The connective tissue can be regenerated and the skin becomes smooth.

In Germany and the USA, liposuction is the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery.
